What is Eid Al-Adha?

Eid al-Adha is a celebration of the devotion and faith of the Prophet Ibrahim, who was willing to sacrifice his son in obedience to God’s command. The festival is an opportunity for Muslims to re-create the ritual of Qurbani, the sacrificing of an animal, and then distribute its meat to families going hungry, the elderly, and the poor.

In Dubai and the UAE as a whole, Eid Al Adha is celebrated with mass prayers at mosques, big family gatherings, and lavish meals, followed by fun, fireworks, and charity. This occasion holds immense spiritual significance and is heavily laden with social activity.

When is Eid Al-Adha 2026?

Eid al-Adha follows the Islamic lunar calendar, meaning the dates will change every year. However, initial research into the Islamic lunar calendar suggests Arafah Day in 2026 will be on Tuesday, May 26, followed by the start of Eid al-Adha on Wednesday, May 27.

This means the actual festival is expected to be over the three-day period and therefore will end on Friday, May 29. Official confirmation will come later in the year, but for now, these dates should be a positive indicator for early planning.

What is the Significance of Arafah Day?

Arafah Day is one of the holiest days of the year for Muslims. It is the day of the Hajj pilgrimage when millions of men and women from all over the world gather at Mount Arafat in Saudi Arabia to pray for God’s forgiveness and guidance.

Muslims all around the world fast on this day, seeking divine mercy. In the UAE, Arafah Day is also observed as part of the extended Eid break and is declared a public holiday.

Is Eid the Perfect Time to Visit in 2026?

Eid Al Adha 2026 is considered one of the best times of the year for travel from Dubai. With the long weekend offering the perfect opportunity for residents to take a short trip, whether within the UAE or abroad, there are so many wonderful destinations to choose from.

Given the demand for travel during this period, however, flights and hotels will sell out quickly, and prices are expected to increase significantly as the dates approach.

Therefore, we recommend planning your trip at least 2–3 months in advance to secure the best rates.

Or, stay in Dubai and enjoy a whole host of exciting staycation packages, events, and activities across the city as it comes together to celebrate the festive period.
