It is mandatory for pilgrims to leave Mina and reach Mount Arafat on 9th Dhu’al Hijjah and spend the day praying, doing Dhik’r and asking for forgiveness from Allah (SWT). Next we pass by Mina. Mina has the capacity to hold up to 3 million people and is also the largest tented city in the world. Pilgrims coming to perform Hajj have to camp at Mina for multiple nights. During the Hajj season, the city is crowded with pilgrims and remains deserted the rest of the year. The valley of Mina is also the place where Prophet Ibrahim was ordered to sacrifice his son Ismael in a dream by Allah. We head towards Jabal Al Nour. Also known as, Mount Hira (Jabal Hira), which lies about two miles from the Ka’bah. Near the top is a small cave, a little less than 4 meters in length and a little more than one and a half meters in width. It was here that the Prophet Muhammad (وسلم عليه للا صلى)( received the first revelations of the Holy Quran during the month of Ramadhan in 610 CE. It was given this name due to its isolation from the surrounding mountains, so it stands separate from the rest of the mountains. At the foot of Uhud, one of the greatest battles of Islam, the Battle of Uhud took place. Seventy of the companions, including the Master of Martyrs, Hamza ibn Abdulmuttalib, may Allah be pleased with him, were martyred in this battle. Then move to Holy Masjid al-Qiblatayn (where Muhammad received the command to change the Qibla from Al Quds to Makkah). After we visit the Holy Quba Mosque (the oldest mosque in the world, dated to the lifetime of the Prophet, its first stones were positioned by him as soon as he arrived on his emigration from Makkah to Madinah). If time permits attend Zuhr prayer. We then visit the Seven Mosques (alMasajid as-Sab'a). These mosques are located on the western side of the Mount Sela' when part of the trench was dug by Muslims in the time of Prophet Muhammad to defend Medina, when the Quraish marched in with the tribes in the fifth year of Hijra (migration). These mosques are built on the known sites of troops stationed and monitoring sites of the battle in 627 CE. Each mosque’s name is linked to the conquest except for al-Fatah mosque which was built at the site of the dome (Qubba) of the Prophet. The mosques are in a row from north to south: al-Fathah, Salman Farsi Mosque, abu Bakr Mosque, Umer ibn Khattab Mosque, Ali ibn abi Talib Mosque, Mosque of Fatima.
